Dexter Cattle
Registered Dexter Cattle. Exceptional genetics. Uncompromising management.
An exceptional herd starts with exceptional genetics. QMG started our herd by sourcing the highest quality genetics from some of the best breeders around the country. We now carry the torch, honoring decades of hard work by committed breeders, by committing ourselves to learning and loving the Dexter breed. We are committed to making thoughtful breeding decisions to produce breeding stock that:
Meet breed conformation standards and are structurally sound.
Maintain body condition and display exceptional carcass quality.
Are hearty, highly fertile, and display exceptional maternal characteristics.
Display exceptional temperaments, well mannered and easy to handle.
Are true dual purpose animals with qualities suitable for both beef and diary.
Animals that don’t meet these criteria will not be used in our breeding program. Our cattle are registered with the American Dexter Cattle Association, and we are committed to the ADCA code of ethics.
Interested in purchasing cattle? 2024 prices start at $1200 for weened calves, and $1800 for bred heifers. We castrate at three days old. Therefore, request for bulls must be made in advance. Please note that the minority of bull calves will be selected to remain in tact. Bull genetics become 50% of your herd, and only select animal pairings will be considered bull candidates. We also dehorn at three days old and requests for horned animals must be made in advance of calving.
Please contact us for information on our sales policy or for any other questions pertaining to our cattle program. We look forward to hearing from you and are always happy to talk Dexter!
Note: All animals will be genetically tested, registered with the ADCA, and transferred to their new owners upon delivery.
